My career at CLAAS:
- Since January 2017 – Order Processing: Logistics Department Tractors of CLAAS Vertriebsgesellschaft
- August 2014 to December 2015 – Additional qualification as a foreign language correspondent
- August 2014 to January 2017 – Apprenticeship as an industrial clerk
This is how I came to CLAAS:
My huge interest in agriculture has been existing already since my youth. Because of earning experiences in working with agricultural machines as a young boy, my interest to work in this sector was developed. Due to my commercial internship at CLAAS and my vocational diploma with focus on SAP, I was definitely well prepared for the apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at CLAAS in Harsewinkel.
This is what I like in particular about my apprenticeship at CLAAS:
During my apprenticeship, I had the chance to get to know many different departments of the company, e.g. Purchasing, Logistics, Finance, Human Resources or Customer Service in Sales. Working in different subsidiaries and different departments helped me to get to know the company's workflows and processes better. Especially useful are the supervisors in each department who take care of the apprentices in their department. The supervisor introduces the apprentice to the department, evaluates the work of the apprentice during his stay and makes sure, that the apprentice gets a detailed insight of the work of the department. The appreciation and helpfulness in each department made each stay to an interesting and important experience in my apprenticeship.
Now my specific tasks are:
As the Logistics Department of the CLAAS sales company, we are the link between our production company, which produces our machines, and the reseller, who sells them. In this connection, the logistics sector is responsible for the whole order processing of a machine, e.g. receipt of an order, scheduling of the production series, calculation or systemic delivery of a machine. A huge challenge is the coordination and scheduling of the orders to fit all of the customer requirements considering the capacities and possibilities of our production companies. The therefore necessarily exchange with colleagues of different CLAAS companies makes the working day very interesting and varied.
My career opportunities at CLAAS:
After finishing my apprenticeship in 2017 and collecting working experience afterwards, I am starting extra-occupational studies in Business Administration. Although I like my current job in the Logistics Department, I am open for new opportunities and can imagine changing my position within the CLAAS group. Therefore, I think, the specialization Business Administration will provide me more opportunities of development.
The company culture of CLAAS is marked by …
… the trust among one another, the mutual collegiality and the identification with the products.
That inspires me to work at CLAAS:
Within my current position, I have got a lot of contact to CLAAS departments, to the production plant in France, to haulers as well as to resellers, who sell our machines. Especially the passion inspires me, with which the departments follow their targets of planning and delivering each machine exactly in consideration of the customer’s requirements.
My personal career advice for pupils:
To start my career with an apprenticeship was the best way, through which I could get to know different company departments. Although some phases are very short, you get a detailed insight in the company working processes nevertheless. Therefore, I can only recommend such a versatile apprenticeship. Face up the recurrent challenges, be open for new things and follow your own targets – so there is nothing in the way of a first-class occupational career.
